Victrex, a UK-based company specialising in high-performance polymers is planning the construction of a major Polymer Innovation Centre in the north of England.<\/p>\n
Financial assistance for the project, subject to satisfactory due diligence will come in the form of a \u00a31.3 million grant from the UK government\u2019s regional growth fund.<\/p>\n
High-performance polymers based on Polyaryletherketones (PAEK) are increasingly being used for demanding applications in industry sectors like consumer electronics, automotive, energy and medical.<\/p>\n
The planned Polymer Innovation Centre will increase capacity to turn lab concepts into real-world processes that can sustain mass production. The facility will enable the scaling up of new products and applications to full commercialisation. The new centre is expected to help in the creation of over 80 direct and indirect jobs over the next 10 years and could ultimately see a total of \u00a316 million invested.<\/p>\n
